Matt Rourke graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from the University Of Washington College of Forest Resources in 1998. Since then, he has worked within the forestry profession developing broad based experience conducting resource and environmental assessment, forest management planning, and project implementation. He has been with INFO since 2005.

Former employers include the USDA Forest Service and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection; however experience since 2000 is in the private sector, providing technical and professional services to small private and industrial timberland owners, as well as public land managers. This experience extends to a variety of forest types and ages, including east and west-side Pacific Northwest forests, coastal redwood, and Sierra Nevada mixed conifer. Area of focus within the field has been centered on commercial timber management, laying out harvest units and transportation systems, preparing and gaining approval of forest practice permits, contract administration, environmental compliance, and quality control. Other areas of expertise include road maintenance, silviculture, timber cruising, timber appraisal, and arboriculture. Consistently practicing forestry in diverse settings has resulted in the refinement of professional skills and judgment, and effective relationships with forest managers, regulators, contractors, and other resource professionals.
